~ Animation ~

The animation was smooth in all aspects. There really isn't much to comment about other than perhaps a few more different styles of walking or movements would have added some variety to a game, which was overall very repetitive.

~ Graphics ~

Graphics were fine the way that they were, but some color probably would have added a lot to the submission. Not only would it make it better visually, but it also gives you the chance to put some blood on the footstep of the dinosaur and as he takes more and more steps without stepping on someone there would be less and less blood on his feet.

~ Story/Content ~

The idea of the game is alright, but it just gets boring after awhile. To make it better you could do something like having to squash so many enemies in a certain run and if you complete it then you get to go to the next level.

This could also help the game by bringing in a little shop system in between levels where you could do something such as upgrades to increase speed, size, maybe give you friendly units near your feet that widen your range of attack, etc...

You could have something like after stepping on 10 people in a row your speed increases slightly or you get a size bonus, etc... If you had the store system you could get bonuses for stepping on more and more people in a row.

~ Audio ~

Music was pretty good and I think that it fit with the game very well. The sound effects were also pretty good, but you could have used some more such as the dinosaur roaring when you let someone get by or after a certain amount of people squashed, etc...

~ Overall ~

A decent little game, but gets boring quite quickly. Adding more variety and some color would help a lot.

Moving the info. button to somewhere that is easier to see would be helpful as I missed it the first couple of times that I played. So a menu might be a good way to improve the submission slightly?

Thanks. Everybody seems to want color, but I really like the bloody footprint idea. The interlevel store sound like that could be cool too. This could really improve with some of these ideas.

Ah, the game itself is alright, but it loses it's potential quite quickly because of the way that you set it up. I don't mind the whole changing color things, but I personally didn't like how it changed by itself.

One way to get around this could be to have it only change after you collect a star. Personally though I really didn't like the whole changing thing at all anyway. It does give it a nice personal touch because the most common game would be collecting things and getting bigger.

I personally like those games though where you can just collect things that are smaller than you and get bigger. So really I think that you should have simply done that instead. If you wanted to change it you could do the color thing, but not have it change by itself like you did.

Visually it looked pretty good and the animations were very smooth. Nothing taken away from the submission there at all. The sound effects were also nice, but I do think that it would be nice to find a way to get some music to play during the submission. Maybe even a different type of song for each different color.

The different game types were pretty cool even though the normal mode was pretty useless as it just kind of kept going.

chesster415 responds:

OK, The color change after you collect a star is an interesting idea, I like it. Normal mode does tend to drag on. I did fix the sound though, you could just leave the url bar blank or type "default" to use the default background music. Or find a loop you like in the audio portal and use http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/downl oad/00000
where you replace 00000 with the number of the submission you want to use. Or any other address of an mp3 will work as long as the domain has a cross-domain file policy that will let the flash player access the file. (Most of them do.) As for a different song for each color they can cycle pretty fast after a while, that might get really annoying and confusing if the song changed every split second. Thanks for the review though.

I played this game once and didn't enjoy it. I was about to give it a bad review, but I decided that it was a good idea to play it again. This time I played longer and explored more and I found out that it was actually a pretty good game.

~ Animation/Graphics ~

I like the sprite/8-bit style that was used here. I'm actually a big fan of sprite animations. All around the animation was pretty smooth. Sprites were done well, etc... I did notice the game lagged a lot, but I assumed it was basically my computer sucking ass.

~ Story/Content ~

This is probably why I didn't like the game as much when I first played it. At first it just seems like a basic game that has nothing really to offer except for selling pizza and avoided cars and people.

After awhile though I noticed that there were a bunch of side missions, the chance to run over clowns, robbers, mimes, etc... for money and points, the ability to buy new cars. I also like the small amounts of humor that were put in with the some of the building titles. The gas prices were twice as bad in the game as they are where I live. >.< You make up for it with the cheap car prices though.

~ Audio ~

Good music all around and good sound effects. I thought there could have been a bit of a better transition in between songs though as it seemed a bit sudden in the game.

~ Overall ~

At first glance it looks like a basic game, but it actually offers more than it seems.

I also love Adult Swim. :)

Pretty good. Nothing amazing, but still not bad all around. I think the graphics are pretty good right where they are and there isn't much room for improvement here.

~ Story/Content ~

I love these types of games, but for some reason I sucked at this game. Perhaps make it so there are difficulties for people to choose at. I mean I sucked at it and didn't have a chance to make it very far no matter how much I played so I couldn't see much of the game.

Another thing that you could think about would be adding a battle animation of the certain character attacking the others in a movie clip. Then you could have people choose whether to turn that off or keep it. You could create a couple random ones for each character so you could have some variety in there.

~ Audio ~

I personally thought the audio was very fitting for the submission and that the sound effects were well done.

~ Overall ~

A good game. I just sucked at it so I couldn't get to see the entire thing. I'm not saying make it easier because games should be hard, but perhaps a choice of making it easier or harder.

I think this was the poorest part of the whole submission. The graphics could have been much better. Just simply making the goals circles using the circle tool instead of drawing it out and the same with the lines. They could have been done much better all around. The words that you had in the flash were also pretty sloppy and could have been done much better. Such as the words in the beginning of the flash when they were done well and well organized instead of just being thrown on the screen.

~ Story/Content ~

Your below average maze game. Some very simple stuff along with some trickier stuff. I played through a couple of times and every time I failed at the same spot where it said something along the lines of You Wish. I wasn't sure if that was really where the flash ended or I just didn't find the way to beat the level. All I know is that it was quite annoying like you wanted it to be it seems so I gave up there. I guess the big question is did you make it annoying on purpose or did you do it because you just couldn't make it that good?

~ Audio ~

Perhaps some ambient background music could have been nice here. Even going as far as having a nice little noise that represents passing a level or a noise that represents failing a level when someone loses.

~ Overall ~

I think since you are a beginner at flash and that this is your first one that you should simply work on improving your art work and the graphics first. When you get better at that than you can move on to making better flashes content wise.

Elder responds:

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I did just strap this together, lol. I dunno exactly how to add music to my flash, but I'll figure it out eventually.

And about the "you wish," it's beatable without cheating. you gotta think outside the box, kinda like in the impossible quiz.

Again, thanks for the feedback.

Very fun game indeed.

~ Animation/Graphics ~

The graphics here were just about perfect. I don't think I would change anything really. Good drawings, good colors, good details, etc... The style of drawing was perfect for the game at hand.

Animation wise it was very good. I guess the only complaints was that when you went really high into space you would fall so fast and hit the ground so fast that sometimes you wouldn't even see the ground or anything on the way except for maybe a cloud or two.

When you hit a spike at certain angles your character would glitch from one place to another real quick instead of his body reacting to the area that he actually hit. The last thing could be the actual animation of the turtle himself. It could have been a tad bit better if you had animated some eye movement/mouth movement to represent screaming while he was being shot.

~ Story/Content ~

You had a lot of things to choose from here. You could buy a lot of cannons, a lot of guns, and other power ups too. The prices were just about perfect. It starts off taking a long time to build your money up, but it doesn't take too long to make people bored of the game.

The "enemies" on the map itself were pretty cool. I think that they were spread out about perfect. Not too far away so it was impossible to move and not too close so it could be too easy to keep going. The rare "enemies" sure were rare as I would have never known there was an UFO or Sun in the game if it wasn't for the medals.

I liked that you implemented the controls to move the turtle in the air while you are flying because it gives you some extra ability to pay attention to the game after your ammo has ran out. I think the best thing about the game though is that the medals don't make the game. If this didn't have medals I would still be playing it because it's a lot of fun. That being said the medals do make it funner though.

~ Some Random Tips ~

The game itself is pretty easy, but some people may still need some tips. Don't shoot your ammo like crazy. Time the shots perfect and you'll maximize the effect. The higher your character is falling from and the lower to the ground that you shoot him (before he hits the ground or it won't hardly be effective at all) the higher and farther the turtle will go.

If you find that you are having trouble getting some certain medals first make sure you are playing in Pop-Up Mode as this seems to take care of most if not all medal problems. If you can't find things like the suns or UFO's then just take your time and be calm. Check the userpage Wylina here on newgrounds for some tips for the game (and all the other games).

If you are getting frustrated that you can't get a medal just remind yourself that it's just a game, a fun game at that, and just play the game casually. You'll eventually get your medal as most of these medals are just luck. (The ones that you have to hit certain things)

If you notice that you're going to end the level soon and you are near some spikes then spike yourself for a small money bonus. If you are lucky enough you can get the never hit the ground money bonus by hitting an UFO before you get the ground or by hitting spikes in the air.

You can only be caught by UFO's if you are underneath it and get caught by it's beams. UFO's are actually not in space, but about half way from the ground/space. The suns are a tad bit higher. Jeeps are random, but if you stay low to the ground early you should be able to find one.

~ Audio ~

Sound effects were good all around and I loved the music. The ability to mute everything was perfect. I'm happy you didn't include something like screaming as that would be way too much noise going on at once. The usage of Mario sound effects were pretty cool.

~ Overall ~

A very fun game with or without the medals. It's worth playing and it's just one of those games that you can go back to play and play again if you're ever feeling bored. The ability to delete your progress allows you to start over and start the fun all over again. One of my favorite games by far. Good job on the great game. :)

Graphic wise this wasn't too bad at all. The picture of Strawberry clock wasn't bad, but it wasn't terrible. Background looked nice and the text that was used was easy to read and very fitting. I think that you could have worked with the text so it fits around names properly though because with only Fro written there was way too much space on either side of it.

~ Story/Content ~

A good idea for a Clock Day flash. It could have used a bunch of other answers because I would tend to get the same answer a couple of times in a row every now and then and it wasn't too long until I found them all. Perhaps throwing in like 10 to 20 more funny/witty answers would have made this better and probably would increase the score a bit.

~ Audio ~

Why not the spammy Clock Day voice that people use for their submissions so that Strawberry talks when a question is asked and he's answering it. That along with some decent background music.

~ Overall ~

With a little bit improved artwork, a series of more funny/witty comments, and a voice over along with some background music and I could be giving this a 6 or 7 out of 10.

piggy123 responds:

thanks for the only good review fro

Needs a lot of upgrading

~ Animation/Graphics ~

The graphics themselves weren't that great. Very simple/rough drawings. Pretty much I'm saying the artwork itself could have been a bit better. Sometimes if people put in some animated stuff like winking eyes, etc.. it can look a bit better also.

~ Story/Content ~

I know this is just a head, but it might be nice to have a dress up with the entire body. There just wasn't much here all around. Perhaps when you were done there could be a view selection where you can then choose different backgrounds to see what your character looks like and stuff against different backgrounds such as a town, forest, house, etc..

~ Audio ~

Music was fine all around. Nothing to really critique there.

~ Overall ~

Just really needs some work on the art work and then some more content such as more of the body and backgrounds can make it better.

ok thnks fro

Ah, I hate these

~ Animation/Graphics ~

Animation was pretty decent all around. Could have been a bit better, but I'm sure you'll figure out ways to improve as you improve at flash. I think things could have been drawn a bit better such as the zombies, but they weren't bad either. The sniper sight would have been a bit better as a complete circle though. :P

~ Story/Content ~

I love zombies, but I hate these sniper games where you can't see anything around you. Oh well, that's how a real sniper would be. I guess that's why I'm not a sniper or shoot at things that move.

I liked the idea for the game. Pretty creative. Just like the one zombie movie that I can't remember the name to because they are all basically named the same thing with just one word changed.

~ Audio ~

I heard the zombie noises and everything, but did I hear a gunshot? If I didn't then I think you could have included a gunshot noise. I think you could have also included a voice over/lip syncing the the TV scene to add more to the submission.

~ Overall ~

Slight improvements could make this a lot better.

~ Review Request Club ~

Samanus responds:

A voiceover is a great idea! And I'll also make the gunshot louder. Thanks a lot for the review! :)

Hey I've reviewed this before

Or at least Corky52 did. O.O

~ Animation/Graphics ~

I think the graphics are about as good as they are going to get. Not the best, but not bad by any means. The animation is alright, but I noticed if you keep the mouse on the right ear just in the right spot it just completely freaks out and twitches extremely fast.

~ Story/Content ~

As I stated all before in the PrePortal Review Request Club that it needs a bit more things to do. The interaction that you have is good for a simple start and I like the idea of putting in different backgrounds. I do think it needs things like feeding the cat, playing with different toys, etc.. Maybe even something funny like they have in some of the parody games where you can end up killing the cat.

~ Audio ~

I liked the songs that you used and the ability of choosing from three different songs, but I think some cat sound effects would have been very impressive here. Something like the cat meowing and the cat purring.

~ Overall ~

Needs a bit more interactivity and perhaps a little bit of cat sound effects.
