Hm, this use to be my favorite breakfast back in the day when I was a child. Having pancakes every week I can tell you that your pancake almost has too much perfection in it. Meaning that it's too circular, there isn't any rough spots, bubbles, etc.. Anything of that sort. I think that a good picture of a pancake would include these faults as the perfect pancake is in fact has its faults.

The syrup and butter look pretty good. Perhaps the picture itself could look a little better if it was on a plate or had some sort of background to it. By itself it doesn't look the best. I think simply a plate with the remaining picture being the table that the plate is on or something of the sort.

So flaws in the pancake and a plate and table. That makes sense I was trying my hand at some 3D artwork, backgrounds aren't my strong suit, but I'll work on them more in the future.

Wow, this is the first art review that I've written in quite awhile. Let's see how rusty I am.

The title is great because with the shadow you can tell someone (Mario I'm assuming?) is above him ready to finish him off. The shadow of what I assume is Mario looks very good and the shadow of the Goomba is also very nice.

The color of the floor looks rather good. I think you used a good combination of colors as they all seem to go together quite well. You also used good colors in the Goobma itself.

I do think that the lines that you used in the Goomba did look alright because it gave him a very cartoonish type of feeling, but I also think that you should have cut the thickness of the black line down a bit to make it seem a little more neater.

Overall it is done pretty well. Good use of colors and shadows. I do think the lines in the Goomba could be a bit thinner though.

chesster415 responds:

Cool thanks, I did want a cartoonish cute look for the goomba. They always get portrayed as a generic enemy.

As it is very beautiful I can see why this wouldn't be allowed to be in the art portal as it's simple a picture with a couple of effects that just involve a button to create. So yes, great art for the userpage, but not something that should be in the art portal obviously. (I was taught that quick by a couple of art mods)

Such a real feeling, but at the same time it's the cartoony feel that makes it look so cool. The color of the eye was by far my favorite part and the dark background almost gives the submission a dark feeling. I can almost imagine someone about to stab this eye. :P

There really isn't much if anything to critique as it's done quite well. Keep up the good work.

It was the highest scoring piece of fine art in the portal until the DD came around, and also fluctuated between highest scoring art portal submission of ALL genres, to 2nd place, 4th place some days, then back to first, down to 2nd, and on and on.
It went up and down, but I got unscouted (everyone did) when the DD pruned everyone. EVERYONE. Were you here for that, do you not read the forums?

All my art is allowed in the portal after I had discussions with ReNaeNae and Captain Ben.
Simple effects? This was all done with a mouse and the Tools in PSCS4. I do not own a tablet. Captain knows I use (in this case, an actual stack of printed pictures) images combined with personal ideas as references to look at and not trace over- you can ask him if you doubt me. I don't appreciate you jumping to conclusions, just like Mindchamber did.
A lot of great artists are still unscouted after the DD attack.
Glad you enjoyed the art, though.

I'm almost lost for words when I look at this simply because my brain can't even comprehend the massive amount of beauty that I'm looking at. I know that I use that word a lot when reviewing your stuff, but this time I really really mean it. (I meant it before as well :P)

The color used, shapes, etc... just the mixture of the thing as a whole is really awesome. Again, it almost looks like the mixture of something that I would see under water, but at the same time in space. Just unexplainable feelings when looking at this.

Thank you!

I love art that draws you in and provokes an emotional response so I am always overjoyed when my art gets that reaction. I'm glad you like it!

Very beautiful in fact. I love the picture itself. The dark background with the lighter colors you used left it up to the imagination of what exactly it could be. Assuming it's an explosion of some sort the first thought that comes to mind would be some sort of special high tech firework that has went off, but the oddest thing about it would be the sky isn't there as there isn't any glow off of what would be the explosion or the colors of the light.

The second thing I think of is some sort of odd creature in the deepest parts of the ocean that man could never visit or get down that far to see with their own eyes. There the glow wouldn't even be apparent because of the total lack of light the darkness would completely cover up any extra light. Could also be something you'd expect to see in space.

On the very extremes (especially the top right hand corner) it reminds me of some pictures that I once took in a graveyard where strings of light and energy were appearing from a nearby gravestone. (Ghost/Supernat. Club needs to be bumped ;) sometime)

So like I said, very beautiful. Leaves a lot for the person to decide for themselves and just looks awesome all around.

EchoRun responds:

I'm glad you liked the 'ghostly' aspect of this, that is one of the thing I have found beautiful in this one, combined with the firework look.

Thank you. :)

This is done very well indeed. Great color, pretty good detail, etc.. I rather enjoyed the colors that you used in this submission and loved that you actually put things like fish in the background.

I think it could have used more more thing in the background. Perhaps some wildlife on the ocean floor there on the middle/left side of the picture or something like an old sunken anchor. Maybe even something like an old sunken boat or ship in the background as well.

SeaBoundRhino responds:

Thank you.

Everyone seems to be agreeing on the same few problems, so I'll definitely work on those.

I know I figured out that you must be an alt account a long time ago, but god more and more that I see your stuff and your posts it makes me think of it even more. O.o

It's a good idea for a drawing, but not done very well at all. First off the white background could probably stay as it is, but it might be nice to have something more detailed in the background. Let's say the white background works good though and we'll move on to some other things.

Drawings weren't done very well. I can tell that they are getting older as they go, but they just aren't drawn well. Perhaps you could have used a base picture for the head, something that's shaped like an actual human head, and then went off from there. It's a start, I don't think it would really make it much better, but it couldn't hurt.

piggy123 responds:

you know i am not a alt why did you think so?

~ Review Request Club ~

I see the point, but I don't think it was carried out very well. I know you want people to see it for themselves, but I think it isn't obvious enough. Perhaps making it a little bit more obvious, but not too much to make it stick out too much could make this better in my opinion.

I also see that you are trying to make this like it's in the sky, but I think that could have been shown a tad bit better with different color usage. More colors that you would see when you look up into a sky in the morning when the sun is first coming out. Sorry I didn't enjoy your piece that much.

TiberiumCrystalKutu responds:

Yes. You are right.

~ Review Request Club ~

Yes, sounds like a broken record, but this submission is much better if viewed in Full Size. As a regular picture it doesn't look like anything great, but when viewed at full size it looks quite good.

My overall thought of this is that it looks pretty cool all around. There are a lot of spots that leave it up to people's imaginations to tell exactly what they see in the piece of art. I would like to mention though that I didn't like how the one part of the picture (around the left side) seemed whited out. Didn't seem very fitting to me at all.

~ Review Request Club ~

TiberiumCrystalKutu responds:

Oh. Well. Thanks for that!

You are unscouted? :O

Why are you unscouted? I didn't end up becoming unscouted. Odd. :(

Hmm, I love the color orange a a lot. I think everything looks great except for the head of the creature. The eyes and mouth look a bit odd, but the rest of it looks great. Very realistic, something that you would see on a piece of ancient art or something in my History of Art class I had a year ago. Good job all around and I can't think of anything to improve except for making the head more realistic.

KrevZabijak responds:

I know, I had a hard time stiching together some conglomerate of a cranial form from a ton of sketchy references.
But what ReNaeNae said was, "someone higher up got cut, so with the way the system is set up, you got cut too."
You were also unscouted, you just got re-scouted quickly.

Thank you so much for the details, as always, I keep all my reviews in mind when doing future work.
Much love!
