Good song.

Thanks for giving the visuals of your song in the author comments. ;) That's always nice when we can try to envision something while we are listening to the music. This piece had very nice ambiance and was a very emotional song. It's also a very nice entry for the MAC8. :P I enjoyed listening to the piano. I thought that the piano was very realistic. Overall, a pretty good song.

WritersBlock responds:

I tried to get a dampened sound from the piano, which was pretty simple to emulate from FL Keys. I think people underestimate that instrument. This is one of the few times where I feel like I've captured the right mood for the competition. I haven't checked back on the competition thread in a while. I don't think I'll win the top spot, but I'm hoping for an honorable mention.
Thanks for the review. :D

Alright.

When I first started listening to it I was like, "Umm pokemon?" Ha, I was thinking about how much of a nerd that I was because the introduction reminded me of pokemon, but than I didn't feel so bad when I read your author comments and you said that it was semi inspired by video games. So you really hit it on the nose if you wanted it to sound like video games. This reminded me of all of the old gameboy games that I played actually. I do think that it was very messy though. It kind of sounded like there was a lot of stuff thrown together in one spot. I guess I also thought that this was more video game related than dance related, but that's just my opinion. Overall a decent song, but kind of messy and jumbled together.

yea...believe it or not, i was going for Pokemon on gameboy on crack
XD
thnx for the review

Not too bad.

I think this would be a better ambient piece. The rain in the background was kind of relaxing, but the song in general was a very relaxing song. A pretty good job all around, but it was very simple. I know it was suppose to be a relaxed song, but maybe a bit of variety could of made it better. I didn't exactly like the ending. I thought that you should of faded out in the ending so that it wasn't so abrupt. Overall not bad though.

I thought the ending did fade out? I wanted it to just fade into rain..

Thanks for the comment, this was our first song together and was actually quite awhile ago.

Not bad.

Pretty good. I actually let this play in the background several times because it was pretty fun to listen to. The first time I listened to it I didn't think it looped very well, but after listening to it for a few times in a row I realized that it did sound pretty good as a loop. A pretty short song, but with the way that it loops it could still be a decent audio submission to be used in flash submissions. It wasn't too repetitive with a lot of variety in such a short song and it was fun too listen too. Good job.

D: I'm going to have to repeat some stuff...

That others have said, which I apologize for, but I have to write a review of some sort. Just like everyone else said it does need a bit of variety. Vocals would probably really make this submission fun to listen to also. It was a very upbeat song and had a lot of energy to it. I do have to say that it hurt my head a little bit with the higher pitch parts, but I already had a headache. >.< I won't let that take away from your score. ;) Overall, the only downfall was how repetitive it was in the beginning. I know you already know that, but other then that pretty good job.

Haha I would add vocals to every track I made if only I could.. Unless you want to hear my beautiful voice (better not hahaha) , or if I could find a singer that would sing to my tracks (but they are far not good enough to be sung to, in my opinion)
Thank you for your time,

Finally got around to it.

First off.. you called me Cocky52 in the review request club. >:( Second of all, I only meant that you posted it there then I would get around to reviewing it, but if not I probably wouldn't of been able to find the time. Now on to the review. :D

The very beginning was nice how it very slowly faded in and had a nice relaxing sound to it. After it started picking up around a minute though I have to admit that it was just sort of repetitive. I noticed that a lot of your songs are kind of repetitive, but at the same time while you have the same thing going on a bunch of times you still manage to mix in a little bit of variety here and there, which does mix it up so the song isn't boring. I really liked the series of notes and the fade out used at the ending of the song. Overall this is a very relaxing song to listen to and you always manage to find good lengths to your songs.

I like it >:]

I like to imagine a lot of the songs that I listen to and see if they would go good with a flash animation or with a game of some sort and I think this song would go very good with a RPG type game. I was just thinking of some sort of RPG game like Final Fantasy where they always have one of those happy, but at the same time sad credit songs because the way they usually end up making the ending happy and sad at the same time. I think the would fit perfectly over credits of an RPG as long as the animation was timed well with it. Also, were you going for the happy, but yet sad type of feeling for this song? If you did that's exactly what I got out of it, but if you didn't then people do interpret songs in different ways. Either way this was really good in my opinion.

i guess i was leaning towards a sad/ exciteing song, and that is the same thing you described :D
dont feel like typeing to much now edit later...
thanks for the review :D

Not bad.

This would be good for a video game flash or maybe even a sprite movie or some other type of movie that is in the game genre. It loops very nicely to the point where if you don't know that it's at the end of the song then you don't really know when it starts over again. I didn't notice one thing about it though and that was the quality wasn't very good. I didn't take too much off just in case it was my speakers, but it sounded kind of cloudy or it just had a lot of static to it. It wasn't too bad, but it was noticeable. *Side note* It sucks having my review next to sonofkirks when his are so much better because he knows a lot about music. >:]

WritersBlock responds:

Nah, you wrote a good review. The "cloudiness" would be the bitcrushers lowering the quality of the sound to make it more chiptune sounding. Perhaps I overdid it, but it was an intentional act. Thanks for the comments. It's good to know that it was just that one thing that you find wrong with the song.
;D

You are a god.

You are a god in human form. This is awesome man. I really loved it. Do you plan on keeping this on or do you plan on taking it off when you get the full version done? Either way tell me when you are updating this or submitting the full version so I can come by and review it. You proved again that you are one of the best with a guitar and one of the best at metal. Rock on man.

Sonofkirk responds:

Lol God ? No fucking way ^^. I think I will this on NG and post the full song when it's done, as a consequence, you won't loose a review lol. Yeah I will tell you.

Thanks for the great review Corey, rock on \m/

Pretty good.

It was an interesting song to listen to. It had a very upbeat nature and was fun to listen to. As soon as I thought that it was going to get too repetitive you changed it up a bit, but I still felt like you used the same sounds too many times in a repetitive nature even though you changed it up a bit you came right back to them. (Sorry I don't really know what the instrument was that I was hearing because I really don't know anything about instruments or anything >.< so I guess I can't give you too good a review in that matter) There was a nice bit of vocals in the audio submission and they were clear and easy too hear and at the same time not too loud. You got those just right. Overall a pretty good submission. Good job.
